Opinion time!! Okay - so here's my debate .... daybed vs twin bed. It's for my extra room that's currently an office/sporting good storage/second closet. I hear daybeds are hard to make - any opinions or tips on that? Just thinking that maybe my lack of extra beds is the reason why visitors are so few and far between. If you have any other opinions or ideas as to why that might be - keep those to yourself - this is just open forum on which kind of bed to get! ;-) smirk

So I've been blog-jumping, following links from one friend's blog to another, to another, to another, until I'm looking at blogs of people I don't know, and I was seeing this recurrent theme of "all about the kids." Rather than having my blog be entirely about the wonder-nephews, I'll try to spice it up for those of you who live vicariously through my adventures. So my latest profound discovery about myself ... I hope you're all sitting down .... SHOES AREN'T MY GREATEST WEAKNESS!! Nope, I have come to realize that bags/purses/wristlets/?? are my greatest weakness! I really don't even want to add them all up and put the number out there but ... last week I went into the hospital gift shop for some candy and walked out with a purse instead! Maybe I'll take some pictures of purses and post them :-) Next trip, unless something else comes up before then ... Edmonton!
Greetings from Montana. I enjoyed my first skiing day of the year although I am once again going through this frustrating, painful routine of "Which socks are the ones that don't hurt?" Darn bony legs! Anyhow, it was great to ski with Debbie again and to realize that I didn't forget all the neat stuff she taught me. Day 1 is done, now I need some drugs and some sleep!!! Day 2 and 3 update - the drugs didn't work.... ow... this is so undignified!!
So after all that rah rah be happy stuff ... let me follow up with the details about my best Valentine's Day EVER (so far)! I GOT ALL SORTS OF HUGS AND KISSES from some hot little blonde guys (I think one of them may have had a fever) :-) I got a call from Jonathan telling me they were heading this way and would be in Spokane on Friday. As luck would have it, I had Friday off, so I took off after work, lickity-split, for Spokane and we met up just east of Coeur D'Alene at a timeshare place. It was so fun to see the boys and see how big they've gotten, and hear all the words Bowdrie knows. Over breakfast Bowdrie told me I'm funny, and this afternoon he told me he loved me. Awww ... I am loved!
Musings and thoughts.... It's amazing how many thoughts can go floating through your head while frosting cupcake after cupcake. That's how I spent part of my evening ... thinking about why I love holidays so much and thinking about Valentines Day tomorrow. I had great plans to bake all these cupcakes and then spend some quality time curling my hair with my magic curling iron. Unfortunately I fell asleep while waiting for the cupcakes to cool so I am now out of time for the hair so I have to get up really early tomorrow and get curling. I celebrated Valentines Day a day early ... doing all the self-indulgent things I wanted to do. I'm most delighted with the eyebrow waxing lady I just went to today after work. She's definately an artist! She did a wonderful job and it was a wonderful way to kick off the next few days! One of my thoughts was about holidays and if maybe I missed my calling as, oh I don't know, an elementary school teacher? I just love holidays, ...
Dad update: Dad had surgery today to try to fix the damaged vocal chord and whatever else is causing him to choke so frequently. He made it through surgery just fine and here's mom's update: Jim had his surgery today and the Dr thought he should spend the night but Jim wanted to come home and I think he'll feel better if I'm around. The nurse gave him some juice to see how his swallow was and he choked up and the juice went flying.........so guess things aren't quite fixed yet, but at least we hope for a good recovery. He didn't panic so that was a very good thing. The cut is right in the front of his neck and is probably about two inches long, but it looks great........he has a neck collar on and a little drain which will come out tomorrow when we got up to see the Doctor.........Dr Edmond is a great guy and Jim seems to like him so that is half the battle. Anyway, we hope this will help him with his talking and swallowing and we'll have good things to ...
Wow, it's my 51st blog post! Incredible! I just want to wish all you readers a merry christmas and happy new year. I'm excited about my newest additions to my ever-growing shoe tree. You've heard of those, haven't you? This year's additions are the green wedge heel, the red glittery heel, and the silver and gold heel. The high heeled boot and the leopard print heel are just little tiny ones so they hardly count. Oh wait - I added a purse this year too. I might need to get a bigger tree next year, or perhaps a second tree so I can start to collect purses too :-) Tonight I'll likely dream of the shoes becoming life size and being able to wear them. Wouldn't that be fun?! Yeah yeah, I know ankle straps are a no-no if you're short but hey, a girl can still dream. Photos from the pharmacy christmas party last Friday. It was snowing so I waited until I was inside to put on my crazy high heels from Chile to avoid broken bone(s)! Perhaps the best gift of all was simply seeing Linda doing so well. She was a pharmacy technician for 20+ years and was critically injured in a horse accident (landed right on her head) in March. The prognosis was grim, and it was especially sad because she was at such a high point in her life prior to the accident. Anyhow - she's a fighter, she's not only managed to simply wake up and exist, she's already able to drive and come January 7th, she will start back to 'work' as a volunteer!!
Bowdrie turned 3! I went up to Montana to help celebrate the big occasion. I continue to be amazed by how many words he knows and how he just talks and talks and repeats everything you say. He continues to be a vegetable-loving, fruit-loving little kid, while Carson just inhales anything he can get his hands on. They're sure good little boys and although they leave me exhausted, I miss them. Bowdrie's already learning how to negotiate ... he wants 3 pieces of candy, I tell him "mama said only one.", so he looks really sweetly at me and asks, "two?" Oh well okay! :-) I read him to sleep one night and just before he fell asleep, he whispered, "first tracks powder" - he'd gone skiing (sort of) behind one of the buildings at Whitefish Mountain Resort and he got to make the first and only ski tracks with his teeny little skis. My thoughts are going out to poor little Lucy, mom's dog. They're not sure what happened but from when mom went to work to when mom got home, Lucy was no longer able to jump up on the bed, she just sits there, doesn't want anyone to touch her, and most worrisome, she doesn't even want to go to Velva's house. Send happy jumpy thoughts her way!
Shannon - you'll have to show Javier this other view of Mount Rainier~ These are just some initial photos from my weekend trip to Puyallup for my 10th High School Reunion. On the drive over, I decided to take Chinook Pass because it will likely be closed soon (normally it's only Memorial Day to Labor Day). The mountain was simply beautiful and it was hard to belived that that pretty hike from a couple months ago is already covered in snow. I know, I know, it's dorky, but I found my high school letterman's jacket and it still fits, so I wore it to the PHS vs Rogers football game at Sparks. :-) It's wool, the night was cold, and when else would I wear it?! It was really fun seeing Shannon, Chrissy, and Viju again, as well as many other former classmates. I'm having trouble uploading the pictures from the actual reunion night but I'll work on it more tomorrow after I get some sleep.
Time well wasted I didn't seem to have anything better to do tonight so I went to blogthings.com and found out all sorts of things about myself thanks to their quizzes!! I am too picky and too choosy, which is apparently why I don't have a boyfriend. I could still pass 8th grade math, science, and geography. As a pinup I'm most like Betty Grable. I went to Montana again this past weekend for a very special reason. When Bowdrie was at mom and dad's house, he said, "Velva beautiful", "Grandma beautiful", so I went to Montana hoping to get a "Janell beautiful" out of him. :-) It took NUMEROUS attempts, and it didn't come until my final night there, after hearing about "bulldozer beautiful", "backhoe beautiful" etc. That didn't lessen the victory for me. Bowdrie also said, "Wuv you, Geee-nell" my last night there, right before he fell asleep- aww, how precious is that?! So I'm loved, AND I'm beautiful! Aah, what a great weekend. His vocabulary is growing rapidly and it's so incredible to watch him learn.
