St Thomas, USVI
St Thomas, USVI

St Thomas USVI was where we woke up the next day. We found our tour after breakfast, one with shopping, island tour, and beaches. In retrospect, I wish I would have given myself more time for shopping, but oh well. The town of Charlotte Amalie has tons of stores with jewelry, jewelry and more jewelry, plus liquor - particularly rum. We did some shopping, picked up souvenirs, and headed back to the van for the island tour. One highlight was the Great House, which was a gorgeous estate. They have botanical gardens there and an event center, but of particular interest this hot, muggy day, were their Banana Daiquiris! Oh man, I could have drank them all day!!! There's a secret ingredient in there (we got them without alcohol so that wasn't it) and oh boy was it good!!! From the Great House, we went to an overlook where we were able to see the house that Bill Clinton stayed in while president and this supposedly famous picture was taken
We saw a couple beaches but decided not to swim there, and went back to the boat to start packing :-( Seeing all those US stores - Pizza Hut, KMart, Wendys, etc, was a sign that our trip was coming to an end.
We packed and had to go make a final decision about which pictures we wanted, and had a quick lunch, packed some more, then went down for supper. The water was rather rough for some reason so I put on a scop patch and took some meclizine and hoped I wouldn't have side effects! haha
After dinner I went to the Princess Theater to watch the show that night and ironically they had the song "Rock the Boat" playing while we were waiting! The show was an Elton John tribute, and then I went to watch the funny piano guy one last time.
We had to put our luggage out by 11 PM so they could take it wherever it goes to get unloaded from the ship, and then zzzz.
Our time to disembark (doesn't that sound like disembowel?) was 9 AM, so we got up, had breakfast, and killed time by the pool and then went to our appointed lounge at the appointed time. This way you're not bombarded with countless overhead announcements. You just go where you're supposed to go and they tell you when you're good to go. We went down and out and found a taxi and before we knew it, we were speeding away from the cruise terminal over to our next stop, Old San Juan!

Misc memories
The divers were all such a friendly bunch - it was fun running into them repeatedly throughout the cruise :-)
In review, I talked to people from Indiana (George & Alma), Montana, Illinois, Nebraska, Oklahoma, California, Victoria, BC, New York, New Jersey, Arizona, England, Ohio ... diverse!
The lady who did Velva's facial was born in South Korea, raised in Australia, and studied in London. Try to figure out that accent! haha
Lots of the crew members were from Eastern Europe, South America, and the Phillipines.
