I went hiking again today - this time up on Chinook Pass. I seem to have reached another milestone on the "Things I Never Thought I'd Do" list -- using OFF! bug repellent as perfume after the hike, prior to going out for dinner!! In my defense, it was the orange bottle and it does smell pretty good. I'm still shaking my head over that one!

Hey Janelle! I found your web site! Very cool- Sheep Lake. Love that place. There is a great scramble at the top of that hill where you can see over into the Crystal Lakes Basin. Have to check that out next time. Baby steps with all things, including bug spray. HUGS!

Sorry to those of you who really liked the outhouse picture - I've taken it down for now. I guess I was just so happy to see it at the end of the hike, I thought it was a beautiful sight. :-)

bHey....Is this the Naches loop trail?? If so, that was one of my favorite hikes growing up there. Sorry to say that I missed you when you were down here visiting your cousin, Nathan. How is life in yakima?

After I read Rory's blog I decided it was time to write a post about my ... life revolution of the past few months. I decided on my birthday to make this year a year of health. I didn't know exactly what that would look like at the time, but that was my theme. Then while in Hawaii, well - there's something very sobering about trotting around in a swimsuit in public. "You can fool some of the people all the time and all of the people some of the time but you can't fool any of them when you're wearing a swimsuit!" I was inspired to change my diet and life. Dad update: Dad had surgery today to try to fix the damaged vocal chord and whatever else is causing him to choke so frequently. He made it through surgery just fine and here's mom's update: Jim had his surgery today and the Dr thought he should spend the night but Jim wanted to come home and I think he'll feel better if I'm around. The nurse gave him some juice to see how his swallow was and he choked up and the juice went flying.........so guess things aren't quite fixed yet, but at least we hope for a good recovery. He didn't panic so that was a very good thing. The cut is right in the front of his neck and is probably about two inches long, but it looks great........he has a neck collar on and a little drain which will come out tomorrow when we got up to see the Doctor.........Dr Edmond is a great guy and Jim seems to like him so that is half the battle. Anyway, we hope this will help him with his talking and swallowing and we'll have good things to ...
